Abrdn has appointed a new head for its advice arm with existing CEO Caroline Connellan stepping down after less than a year in the role.

Standard Life Aberdeen has hired Brooks Macdonald CEO Caroline Connellan to be the new chief executive of its personal wealth division which includes Financial Planning business 1825.

Total group funds under management at wealth manager and Financial Planner Brooks Macdonald increased 13.6% to £15.5bn in its second quarter ending 31 December 2020.

Brooks Macdonald has snapped up Edinburgh-based firm Cornelian Asset Managers in a £39m deal.
