A group of four fund managers and regulated firms involved mainly in alternatives and real estate investments has failed.

The four connected regulated firms collapsed this week, the FCA has confirmed.

The main London-based firms are Alti Re Limited and Alvarium Fund Managers (UK) Limited. Both entered administration on 11 July.

Two other firms linked to them: Social Housing Income Advisors Limited and AlTi Strategic Advisory (UK) Limited have also gone into administration. 

Alvarium was previously the fund manager to troubled investment trust Home REIT but lost the mandate to another manager. 

David Soden and Matthew Mawhinney of Teneo Financial Advisory Limited have been appointed as joint administrators for both the main firms. 

Alti Re Limited (Alti Re) and Alvarium Fund Managers (UK) Limited (Alvarium) provided alternative investment fund management and real estate investment services.

Alti Re is an alternative investment fund manager (AIFM) which deals mainly in corporate advice and the manufacture and distribution of real estate transactions. It also acts as a principal for various appointed representatives, including Social Housing Income Advisors Limited and AlTi Strategic Advisory (UK) Limited.

Both Alti Re Limited (Alti Re) and Alvarium Fund Managers (UK) Limited have signed voluntary requirements restricting their businesses and ability to dispose of assets, the FCA said.

On 11 July, the directors of the firms applied to court to place both firms into administration because they concluded that the firms were insolvent.  

The joint administrators will shortly contact investors individually and will hold a meeting to explain what the administration means for investors. Anyone with a potential claim against Alti Re or Alvarium is asked to contact the joint administrators.

The FCA has warned investors to be alert to the risk of scammers trying to contact them.
