Alan Hudson, AFH Founder and CEO
Financial Planner and consolidator AFH Wealth Management has acquired St Albans Financial Planning firm Avidity Wealth Management Limited for an undisclosed amount.
Avidity has more than £750m in funds under management and around 1,800 clients.
The Avidity team will integrate with AFH immediately, rather than becoming a subsidiary of the Bromsgrove-based wealth management firm.
Avidity will be rebranded as AFH Wealth Management St Albans, to further develop AFH’s presence in the South-East.
Avidity was founded in 2010 and advises on investments, pensions, tax planning, and protection advice. The team comprises 11 qualified financial advisers and 13 administrative staff, collectively bringing more than 150 years of industry experience.
Tim Yates, founder and managing director of Avidity, said: “The partnership is an exciting new chapter for our clients and team. AFH’s scale and expertise will allow us to enhance the services and support available to our clients, while maintaining the personal, relationship-driven advice we are known for.
“All Avidity advisers will continue in their current roles, ensuring continuity and a seamless experience for clients.”
Alan Hudson, CEO of AFH, said: “This acquisition strengthens our footprint in the South-East.”
AFH was founded in 1990 by Chartered Financial Planner Mr Hudson. It has grown from a small Worcestershire-based IFA practice to a firm with more than 200 qualified independent financial advisers across the UK, supported by 500 employees.
Private-equity owned AFH has acquired 139 firms in the last two decades. It has 10 offices across the UK and manages £9bn of clients’ assets. It was bought by US private equity firm Flexpoint Ford in 2021.
In September the firm recruited two senior staff from St James’s Place to drive new growth initiatives.
Iain Rayner, former chief operating officer at SJP, will become chief commercial officer at AFH from January 2026.
James Fogarty, former head of acquisition at SJP, joined as recruitment director, with a focus on adviser recruitment.
The pair will be involved in the firm’s planned launch of a Partnership proposition to attract owner-managed businesses.
