CPI inflation has risen to 2.1% contradicting earlier predictions that it would fall to 1.9% and is above the Bank of England’s 2% target.
UK inflation fell to 2.1% in December, from 2.3% the previous month, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
UK CPI inflation fell more than expected in September after hitting a six-month high in August, new figures have revealed.
The Government today announced that CPI inflation had fallen to 2.7% from 3%.
