John Goddard, new CEO at Quilter Cheviot
Former HSBC banker John Goddard has been appointed chief executive at wealth manager Quilter's high net worth division Quilter Cheviot following regulatory approval.
Mr Goddard had a 28-year career at HSBC, where he held several senior leadership roles, overseeing key developments within the group.
He succeeds Andy McGlone, who will depart at the end of the month after 31 years at the firm.
Mr McGlone was appointed chief executive of Quilter Cheviot in January 2019, having previously been head of Quilter Cheviot's London office.
He worked his way up through the London private client department: starting as a trainee, qualifying as an investment manager, then leading one of the London investment teams before becoming head of department in late 2013. He then became managing director, London Investment Management in 2015 before taking over as CEO in 2019.
The company said he is leaving in order to “pursue other opportunities,” although no further details were forthcoming at present.
Steven Levin, Quilter CEO, said: “Quilter Cheviot has evolved and adapted and is now in a really strong position to deliver further growth. John brings a huge amount of knowledge and experience from his time in the industry and I look forward to working closely with him.”
He thanked Mr McGlone, “for his leadership and significant contribution to Quilter Cheviot over his many years of service.”
Quilter Cheviot is part of Quilter plc. Quilter encompasses the Financial Planning businesses, Quilter Financial Planning, the Quilter investment platform and Quilter Investors, the multi-asset investment solutions business. Quilter Cheviot includes the discretionary fund management business, Quilter Cheviot, together with Quilter Private Client Advisers.
