Peter Martin, Former Odey Asset Management CEO, has joined wealth planner and boutique investment house Oberon Investments Group.
The firm said it plans to launch a new Global Equities fund to make use of his experience.
Mr Martin will be joined at Oberon by former Odey colleague Jake Bambridge, who takes on the role of funds operations manager.
Mr Martin was chief executive and partner at Odey and previously managed the LF Odey Portfolio Fund. He has more than four decades of experience in investment management and has held senior leadership positions at Rothschild Private Bank, JP Morgan and Fleming Private Asset Management.
Mr Bambridge has more than 17 years’ experience in financial services, most recently as operations manager at Odey where he oversaw the day-today operations of a HNW private client business managing more than £650m in AUM.
Oberon also recently recruited small‑cap fund manager Richard Penny from Crux Asset Management.
The firm said the appointments expand its platform into new institutional markets and reinforce its commitment to attracting top‑tier talent.
Simon McGivern, Chief Executive Officer of Oberon, said: "Peter’s track record in building and managing funds at leading institutions will underpin the next phase of our growth. The appointments signal Oberon’s intent to build a broader, deeper investment platform for our clients and shareholders."
Peter Martin, said: “Oberon is a young, ambitious business focused on growth. It is also unencumbered by historic structures and is therefore free to develop new funds and services suited to the current investment environment.”
Oberon was founded in 2017, when it acquired a small stockbroking firm with approximately £100m in AUA. It underwent a reverse takeover of Baskerville Capital plc in February 2021, rebranding as Oberon Investments Group PLC.
In annual results published at the end of July it revealed that revenue in the year to the end of March was £9.36m, up 40% from £6.6m in 2024. It made an operating loss of £4m in the year, slightly more than 2024's loss of £3.267m.
