Twenty seven ‘failed’ financial firms have been declared in default.

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme has named the companies this week.

Consumers could get back money they have lost as a result of their dealings with any of these businesses.

A declaration of default means FSCS is satisfied a firm is unable to pay claims for compensation made against it. This paves the way for customers of the firms.

Since its inception, FSCS said it has helped over 4.5m people, paying out more than £26bn in compensation.

From 1 January To 28 February the following firms were declared in default:
