Rebecca Tuck APP Chartered MCSI Paraplanner, of Magenta Financial Planning, the CISI’s Paraplanner of the Year 2018, told delegates at the CISI Paraplanner Conference, in Stratford-Upon-Avon, how she swapped studying the seashore for examining cashflow.
She also spoke about her role as the sole Paraplanner at the launch of Magenta Financial Planning in Bridgend.
Ms Tuck revealed the process she adopted as the firm launched in three points:
• Decide your investments
• Design your reports/graphics
• Review everything all the time
On the latter point she said: “It is very easy in a small firm to become quite insular.
“I was still aware that at this point I didn’t have a massive amount of experience.”
She said it was vital to “stay connected” and lauded corporate events, like today’s CISI Paraplanner Conference, to share ideas.
She also spoke about her recent new role as Magenta’s technical and quality manager and in standardising archives and reports.
Speaking more generally on Paraplanning, she concluded: “There’s a lot of opportunity whether you want to move into advice or something else, it will stand you in good stead.”
