The consumer-focused press release, covering the theme of people making plans for Christmas but forgetting to plan for their financial future, has been sent to all members, the media and supporters and is strictly embargoed until Sunday.

Financial Planning Week is the national consumer campaign organised each year by the Institute of Financial Planning, its members and supporters to raise awareness among the public of the importance of Financial Planning. The website www.financialplanningweek.org.uk is now live and is aimed at the public offering access to tips, tools and guidance on how consumers can improve their financial "fitness". They also have opportunities to get answers to their financial questions via the "Ask a Planner" service or to attend one of the free Financial Planning surgeries taking place around the UK.
The news release includes details of a survey conducted by YouGov for Financial Planning Week in association with Liontrust. It questioned over 2,000 people aged 18 or over across Britain and the findings will be released on Sunday. The release will also be featured on Financial Planner Online from Sunday.

IFP members and other supporters can get involved in the campaign by talking to local and regional media, sending press releases, holding open sessions for consumers to talk about their financial plans and doing what they can to spread the word about the value of good Financial Planning in its broadest sense and planning ahead financially.
The IFP says there is still time for those who have not yet organised anything to set aside a small amount of time over the next week to Tweet about Financial Planning, write to local media and email clients about the Financial Planning Week website.
