The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has warned the Government that proposals to introduce lifetime 'member choice' pension pots risk undermining the success of automatic enrolment.

The number of workers who have newly enrolled into a pension scheme since the introduction of auto-enrolment (AE) has topped 11 million, according to new figures from The Pensions Regulator.

Auo-enrolment pension provider Nest has joined the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the major trade body for the insurance and long-term savings sector.

The legal changes required for the extension of pensions auto-enrolment have been pushed back until September.
