Martin Gilbert, co-founder of fund manager Aberdeen, has stepped down as co-chief executive of merged group Standard Life Aberdeen as the company moves to a single CEO.

The merger of Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life has completed today to form Standard Life Aberdeen, a financial giant with with assets under administration of £670 billion.

Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management announced today that they have reached agreement on a recommended merger which will see the two combine to create a group with £660bn in assets under management and financial strength.
