Rising private pension and property wealth fuelled a 9% rise in median household net wealth in Great Britain in the two years to March 2018, according to the latest ONS report.

UK inflation rose at the slowest pace in almost three years last month, with CPI inflation dropping from 1.7% to 1.5%.

The Consumer Prices Index measure of inflation fell to 1.7% in August to 1.7%.

New statistics have shown a big increase in the number of elderly people living alone, prompting concerns from lawyers of an increase in elderly and vulnerable abuse cases.
