Pensions Minister Guy Opperman has admitted ‘significant’ problems with incorrect state pension forecasts in a letter to Royal London policy director and former Pensions Minister Steve Webb. 

More than 200 advice firms signed up during the first couple of days to the new Gold Standard for best practice in relation to and consumer guide for Defined Benefit transfers advice, the PFS has revealed. 

The tax collected from individuals breaching the Lifetime Allowance (LTA) has rocketed by £100m since it was introduced in 2006, with the latest figures showing that £110m in tax was collected from individuals exceeding the allowance during 2016/17, compared with less than £10m in 2006/7 when the LTA was introduced.

New figures from the ONS, which point to a slowing of life expectancy increases, are good news for defined benefit pensions schemes, according to AJ Bell.
