Only 10% of Financial Planners are very confident they would retain assets under advice when wealth is transferred to clients’ family members, according to new research.

Families have made close to 32,000 successful reclaims for overpaid inheritance tax in the past six years, according to HMRC.

Over two thirds (72%) of financial advisers think providers do not give enough clear and consistent information about how to complete expressions of wishes.

Inheritance tax receipts for April 2021 to March 2022 were £6.1bn, a rise of £0.7bn year-on-year, according to the latest figures from HMRC.
