Chris Dean, ex-professional rugby player
Wealth manager and Financial Planner Evelyn Partners has appointed ex-professional rugby player Chris Dean to its Edinburgh Financial Planning team.
Mr Dean is Edinburgh Rugby Club’s most-capped centre in its history, chalking up more than 150 appearances in a decade.
He has joined Evelyn in a business development role but will also train as a Financial Planner.
He is the second former rugby star to join the firm. Evelyn recently hired Alex Tait, the ex-Newcastle Falcons rugby professional, as a Financial Planner at its Newcastle office.
Mr Dean will develop opportunities for both the Financial Planning and investment management teams at the Edinburgh office, strengthening relationships with key contacts and raising Evelyn Partners’ profile in the marketplace.
He recently completed the JP Morgan Athlete Transition Programme, which is an initiative designed to help elite athletes transition from high-performance sport into the corporate world.
He said: “Through that I’ve gained first-hand experience in financial services, developed new skills, and built a strong professional network — and with this great springboard and local connections I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running in this exciting new chapter.”
Evelyn has been busy cementing sporting ties this year.
In July Evelyn became the official wealth management partner of Manchester City Women’s Football Club. The firm has been working alongside City to provide financial guidance and life planning support to players.
In May it became the first official wealth management partner of Saracens Rugby Club. As part of the three-year deal Evelyn provides a second career pathway into the financial services industry for players retiring from the sport.
In the same month it entered a three-year deal as an official partner of the Netball Super League.
It also this year launched a new partnership with Women in Football to deliver financial education boost for females in the sport.
