The Tony Sellon memorial prize or “Good Egg” Award had become a tradition at the IFP’s annual conference each year. This is set to continue, following the merger with the CISI last November.

The gong goes to a member who has made a significant contribution to the progression of Financial Planning in the previous twelve months.

Tony Sellon, a founder member and past IFP President died from cancer in 2001 but is remembered for his sense of fun and being a real “good egg”.

Last year’s award was won by Baigrie Davies founder Arthur Davies and Paraplanner Joanna Hague, a Financial Planning Today columnist, was the winner in 2014.

The CISI has asked members to submit nominations for the 2016 award.

The CISI told members: “Every year the IFP looked to present this award to a member who had made a significant contribution to the progression of financial planning in the previous twelve months.

“That might have been in the form of personal support to you, your branch or region, or perhaps someone who had spoken and inspired you at events. The CISI intends to continue this award in the memory of Tony Sellon, one of the IFP’s past presidents who sadly passed away some years ago.

“Those of you who knew Tony will recall he was a real ‘good egg’ himself offering so much of his time and energies to the services of financial planning.

“So if, whilst reading this, someone springs to mind then please contact either Campbell or Jacqueline at the CISI with a name and a some evidence of what that individual has done.”

The award will be presented at the gala dinner during the annual financial planning conference on 4 October at Celtic Manor in Wales.
