The Paraplanners Howwow on 27 July will focus on this key skill for the entire day.
Mark Goold, senior associate in strategy and competition division of the FCA, will be among the guest presenters, helping to explain the regulatory lines that Paraplanners need to work within.
Paraplanners Powwow founder Richard Allum CFPTM Chartered MCSI said: “Most Paraplanners understand this fully but it can be the interpretation of COBS by compliance that causes issues and frustrations.
“Mark Goold will be covering this and in particular busting some myths about what must be in a report and what does not need to be there.
“Having seen him talk about this before I know that the FCA’s view is different to some compliance people and this will be an interesting session.”
Mr Goold will give insights on “not only what needs to be in reports, but what doesn’t – that age-old Paraplanner quandary.”
Mr Allum said: “Every event we’ve been involved in, writing reports for clients always comes up. Whilst it’s not the only tool to help people understand their financial futures, it’s an important one to get right, and one where Paraplanners play a pivotal role.
“The day is designed to give each Paraplanner some high impact tactics and takeaways on issues they would normally find it hard to get help with and from speakers they wouldn't normally have access to in a format like this.
“Having seen the content, each speaker has at least one idea that, if it's the only thing someone takes away, will make a big difference.”
David Pike from Brochet will be sharing how to get the best from Word to make reports as attractive and easy to navigate as possible, and the secret shortcuts that automation can offer.
Experts from Quietroom, a company which helps to train staff to “talk more persuasively and write more effectively”, will also be leading a session.
Mr Goold, Mr Pike, and Quietroom will, aside from their presentations, lead ‘interactive campfire’ sessions with smaller groups of delegates.
Aegon and James Hay have helped to put on the training day.
