The service is being launched to mark the inaugural World Financial Planning Day, a campaign instigated by the global Certified Financial Planning body FPSB today (4 October).
Phil Billingham, founder of Perceptive, said the new service was aimed at people who might be based in London or other jurisdictions but travelled the world, often with assets in multiple locations and with complicated financial needs. He’s dubbed the service: “Financial Planning without borders.”
Mr Billingham, a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Chartered Financial Planner, said: “At World Citizens, we specialise in working with fellow Certified Financial Planners (CFPs) across the world, to deliver expert ‘joined up’ advice and support.
“This means clients get ethical, professional qualified advice from a Financial Planner who always has the clients’ best interests at heart. Our strapline is ‘Financial Planning Without Borders’.”
World Citizens Financial Planning is a brand and service of Perceptive Planning and will focus on people with personal financial affairs that are complicated when there are international borders involved.
Perceptive research has found that the UK has one of the most internationally diverse populations. In 2011, 13 per cent (7.5 million) of the resident population of England and Wales were born outside the UK. These figures include around 220,000 South Africans, 200,000 Americans, 125,000 Australians and 80,000 Canadians.
In addition, over 5 million UK passport holders are now said to reside abroad. The largest numbers are in Australia, America and Canada, but South Africa also has a large population of UK passport holders.
Taken together this means over 12 million people have moved to or from the UK, says Perceptive, which means more and more families have assets, income and liabilities in more than one jurisdiction.
Mr Billingham and partner Shannon Currie have lived in Zimbabwe, the USA, South Africa and now in the UK and aim to put their global experience to good use.
