Platform group Nucleus Financial Platforms has promoted chief commercial officer Mike Regan into the newly created role of deputy CEO.

He will retain his current responsibilities but also provide support to CEO Richard Rowney in leading the business and develop group strategy.

Mr Regan joined Nucleus in 2022 initially as CFO and has since been involved in driving the group’s transformation, including the acquisition and integration of Curtis Banks and, more recently, Third Financial.

He has also led the commercial team in securing new client wins and leading the group’s ongoing investment in proposition development.

Before joining Nucleus Mr Regan was chief financial officer at BGL Insurance between 2019 and 2022. He previously spent three years as finance director at Coutts, which followed six years at RBS in various roles.

He began his career in 2000 at PWC before having spells at banks HSBC, UBS and WestLB.

Richard Rowney, chief executive officer of Nucleus, said: “As we grow and become more complex, promoting Mike to support me as Deputy CEO was the obvious choice.”

Mr Regan said: “The investment and transformation agenda for a group of our size requires a significant amount of leadership, while the changes in the market and adviser demands means we're constantly adapting and evolving both our business and our proposition.”

Nucleus Financial Platforms currently has more than £101bn of assets under administration for more than 230,000 customers and owns a number of subsidiaries including James Hay, Nucleus, Third Financial and SIPP provider Curtis Banks.

It acquired Third Financial, a provider of white label investment platforms and software, in July 2024.

It completed its £242m acquisition of SIPP and SSAS provider Curtis Banks in September 2023.
