The conference, the first in a series of technical events held throughout the year, was attended by over 100 delegates.

Although the event was already a sell-out, more delegates turned up on the day which further boosted numbers.

Speakers such as Tina Weeks and Louise Oliver CFP^CM and Claire Goodwin were particularly popular with delegates.

Other speakers included Richard Allum from Paraplan Plus, Shane Mullins from Fiscal Engineers and Robert Lockie from Bloomsbury.

IFP chief executive Nick Can said: "It's been great to see so many new people today, we expected 60-70 people so we've almost doubled that. The conference has underpinned the whole of IFP, there's been no mention of products and a really good balance and consistent message about what businesses are doing such as building trust, client engagement, assumptions etc."

Marlene Shalton, president of the IFP, said Financial Planning was seeing a significant boost, with not only the conference but branch meetings seeing record attendances.

She said: "People are having to look at their business proposition and what they offer clients and I think Financial Planning aligns very well with RDR."

The next open IFP event will be an ethics conference entitled' The Only Way is Ethics' held in April.
