Former CISI Financial Planning Forum chairman and experienced UK Financial Planner Amyr Rocha Lima will join the board of the global Financial Planning Standards Board from 1 April.
The FPSB is the global standards setting body for Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Professionals around the world, including the UK.
Mr Lima stepped down from the CISI Financial Planning Forum in November but remains a member of the CISI board.
He is managing director at Surrey-based Strategic Wealth Partners and holds a masters degree in wealth management from Bayes Business School. He founded Strategic Wealth Partners with fellow planner Ian Cooke with the support of Benchmark Capital in September 2023.
Andrea Middel, chair of the FPSB board, said: “Amyr adds a wealth of experience in fostering collaboration across Europe and a strong dedication to raising professional standards and public trust.”
He will be joined on the board by US-based Amy Richardson, who is director of advisory services at TCI Wealth Advisors.
The FPSB’s new chairperson Caroline Dabu will also begin her two-year term from April, succeeding Andrea Middel. Ms Dabu is based in Canada and has over 25 years of experience in wealth management.
FPSB board member Eunice Chan, will also step up in 2026 as board chairperson-elect for a two-year term.
The newly-appointed board members will join seven volunteers from the FPSB board of directors from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Malaysia and the United States
The FPSB manages, develops and operates certification, along with a global network of organisations which certify CFP professionals, in 28 territories including Australia, Austria, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, People’s Republic of China, Republic of Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
In the UK the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) is the CFP certification provider.
There are currently around 1,064 Certified Financial Professionals in the UK.
