Peter Harrison, former group chief executive of Schroders plc, has become a strategic advisor to India and Japan specialist investment management firm Chikara Investments.
Mr Harrison worked in asset management for more than 35 years, serving as Schroders chief between March 2016 and November 2024.
He has worked as a portfolio manager, served as chair of the Investment Association and sat on the FCA Markets Practitioner Panel. He is currently a Member of the board of directors of Marsh McLennan Inc and Lazard Inc, and is Chair of Morgan Sindall plc.
Privately-owned Chikara was founded in 2005 and specialises in India and Japan equities. The word chikara means 'strength' in Japanese and is the name of a harmonic instrument in India, according to the company's website.
Mr Harrison said: "Chikara’s specialist focus on markets like Japan and India where deep research and local understanding are critical, makes it well placed to thrive in today’s more complex global environment.”
The firm said it has experienced positive momentum recently, doubling assets through strong inflows and fund performance since the start of 2025.
The Chikara Japan Income & Growth Fund has returned +516% since inception in January 2013, 64% ahead of the TOPIX TR Index.
The firm’s Investment Trust equivalent, the CC Japan Income and Growth Trust has recently surpassed its ten-year anniversary with NAV total returns of +300% compared with +186% for the TOPIX TR Index since inception in December 2015.
