Financial Planning Today magazine has gone inside the business built by Bestinvest’s founder John Spiers.

For the latest issue, we spoke with EQ Investors board director Mark Kenner.

EQ Investors in its current form was founded in 2014. It boasts the rather unusual feature of a beach-style relaxation area in the office complete with deck chairs, rattan sofas, bright parasols and striped deckchairs.

Although EQ was launched in October 2014, it was born out of a long established business – Truestone Asset Management. The origins of the business go back to 1987.

Mr Kenner said: “Since buying the business, John Spiers the founder of Bestinvest has been driving the business forward. Over the course of the last two years, we’ve launched a bespoke discretionary investment service and a robo-advice proposition – it’s been a busy few years.”

Among many topics discussed in the article, Mr Kenner explains how EQ is encouraging staff to train for Chartered Financial Planner status.
