The FCA’s ‘Brexit minister’ Nausicaa Delfas says the regulator is ready for all potential outcomes of the final Brexit negotiations, including a ‘cliff-edge’ or hard Brexit which could result in sudden change to the regulatory environment.

The FCA is to amend its Handbook to ensure it is ready for Brexit and will limit Handbook changes unrelated to Brexit in the period up to EU withdrawal.

FCA chief executive Andrew Bailey has called for “a permanent commitment to open financial markets” but accepts Brexit will take place in March next year.
