Government measures to protect members of defined benefit pension schemes have been branded a ‘damp squib’. 

Guy Opperman MP, who was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary for Pensions and Financial Inclusion six months ago, has survived the latest parliamentary reshuffle.

The Department for Work Pensions has confirmed it will legislate to give millions of younger workers a better retirement through auto-enrolment pension savings.

MPs on the Commons Work and Pensions Committee have urged the Government to ban pension cold calls by June 2018 and to introduce compulsory consumer guidance before pension pots can be accessed.
