Private equity firm YFM Equity Partners has backed a £5.6m investment into the financial adviser directory service Unbiased.

Unbiased, the directory and lead generating service used by many Financial Planners and advisers, is to raise its charge for passing on consumer enquiries from 1 June - but has defended the increase as the first in four years.

Adviser directory Unbiased has stressed that it is treating errors on its website ‘very seriously’ after some incorrect uses of Chartered Financial Planning titles were uncovered.

The Personal Finance Society is investigating the use of the CII’s Chartered designations by some individuals on the Unbiased website after errors were uncovered.
