Director killed at home: 4 arrests after intruder shooting

Four people have been arrested over the murder of a director from pensions and investments firm LV=, as his family described him as a “caring and compassionate man”.

Guy Hedger, 61, was shot dead in Dorset by intruders. He was killed in the early hours of last Sunday morning in his home in Castlewood in Ringwood, police stated.

Police received a call at 3.03am reporting that he had been shot with a shotgun. He died shortly after arriving at hospital despite attempts to save him.

It is believed jewellery, including designer watches, was stolen from the address, police said.

Mr Hedger’s partner was at the house at the time, detectives reported, saying that he has been deeply affected and is being supported by specially-trained officers.

Mr Hedger, who was marketing and branding director at LV=, was named as the victim on Sunday. He played a leading role in the rebranding of the business as LV= in early 2007.

His family have issued a statement, which read: “Guy was a caring and compassionate partner, son, brother and uncle who lived life to its full and enriched the lives of all those who knew him.

“We are devastated that Guy's life has been cut short in this way. Guy will be sorely missed by family, friends and colleagues, but he will live in our hearts forever.

“We ask for time to grieve in private."

The latest arrest was made on Wednesday 3 May 2017 after the man attended Bournemouth police station.

Superintendent Kevin Connolly, of Dorset Police, said: “In total four arrests have now been made.

“However, our enquiries still continue and our appeal still stands for anyone with information that could aid us to come forward. This is the case for anything relating to suspicious activity after 3am on Sunday 30 April in the Verney Close area of West Howe and in Winterborne Stickland as well as information about anyone acting unusually in Castlewood in the days or hours leading up to Guy Hedger being killed.

“We would like to thank everyone who has contacted us already. The support we have received from the public has been encouraging.”
