JP Morgan Asset Management has launched an emerging markets fund, the Total Emerging Markets Income Fund, which combines investments in debt and equity.
The Luxembourg domiciled fund will be co-managed by Richard Titherington, chief investment officer, Emerging Market Equities, and Pierre-Yves Bareau, chief investment officer, Emerging Markets Debt.
Mr Titherington said: "Broadening the emerging markets opportunity set to incorporate both equity and debt has the potential to provide strong risk-adjusted returns and a stable source of income.
"Investors are increasingly realising emerging markets can be a source of growth as well as yield but are mindful of managing volatility. Combining debt and equity exposure can offer diversification."
JPMorgan Funds – Total Emerging Markets Income Fund will utilise flexible, strategic asset allocation and active risk management through currency overlay and liquidity assessment. Top-down as well as bottom-up insights will inform security selection. The fund will target a 6% gross yield.
The two CIOs co-managing the fund each have more than 25 years of investment experience and are supported by a team of more than 75 investment professionals across eight global locations.
