Kirsty Thomson
LGT Wealth Management has appointed Kirsty Thomson as a wealth planner in its Edinburgh office in response to growing demand for wealth planning in the region.
She joins from RBC Brewin Dolphin’s Edinburgh office where she was divisional director.
Ms Thomson specialises in supporting high-net-worth individuals with retirement and wealth transfer planning. She began her career as a tax-specialist solicitor in 2009.
Other previous roles include time at PwC and Turan Connell.
John Godfrey, head of Scotland at LGT Wealth Management, said the firm is seeing an increase in demand for clients concerned by policy changes affecting pensions, inheritance tax and business property relief.
He said: “Kirsty’s background in legal and financial services enables her to deliver highly tailored advice, particularly important at a time when many clients are looking to pass on wealth to the next generation. We are working with more and more entrepreneurs, families and family businesses, many of whom have been impacted by recent budget announcements.”
LGT expanded into new offices in Edinburgh’s Capital Square in May last year, and now has a team of over 50 in the country.
The wealth manager said it continues to look to expand its client-facing and operational teams in the region.
LGT Wealth Management was founded in 2008 as Vestra Wealth, before being acquired by LGT in 2016. It employs over 650 staff across the UK, and has offices in London, Jersey, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester.
