The CISI and PFS are both celebrating World Financial Planning Day on social media
Today is the ninth annual World Financial Planning Day, run by the Denver-based Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB).
In the UK, World Financial Planning Day is supported by professional body the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments (CISI).
It runs as part of World Investor Week run by the International Organisation of Securities Commissions from 6 to 12 October.
World Financial Planning Day hopes to leverage the talents and skills of more than 230,000 CFP professionals worldwide by highlighting the pivotal role Financial Planning plays in empowering people to take control of their financial well-being by raising awareness of the value of working with a Financial Planner, like a CFP professional.
Dante De Gori, FPSB CEO, said: “Celebrated across continents, World Financial Planning Day shines a spotlight on the power of Financial Planning and of working with a Financial Planner who has committed to rigorous standards of professionalism and to putting clients’ interests first.
“Research shows people who work with a Financial Planner, like a CFP professional, report a higher quality of life, more financial confidence and resilience, and more financial satisfaction – World Financial Planning Day is the perfect occasion for all to discover why.”
The CISI is running a social media campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of working with a Certified Financial Planner as part of its efforts to mark the day.
Its social media campaign is also being supported by rival professional body The Personal Finance Society on social network LinkedIn.
Chris Morris, Chartered MCSI and the CISI’s head of financial planning, policy & engagement said: “The CISI is proud to work with FPSB and its global network of organisations to celebrate World Financial Planning Day. We are also proud to support IOSCO’s World Investor Week to raise awareness about the importance of financial education and investor protection so individuals and families can achieve their life goals.
Financial Planners can join the conversation on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube using the #WFPD2025 and #IOSCOWIW2025 hashtags.
Last year, the campaign achieved an estimated global audience reach of more than 580m people through media coverage, financial education events and social media as 20 territories around the world united to celebrate the event.
