Jersey-based wealth manager Team plc has appointed Lumin Wealth founder John Cusins to the board as an independent non-executive director, with immediate effect.
The firm recently acquired troubled Financial Planner and wealth manager WH Ireland for £12.7m, where Mr Cusins, 54, had been a director.
Mr Cusins was appointed a non-executive director of WH Ireland in October 2025 to help the firm in its consultations with principal shareholders on the future plans for its business.
Soon after his appointment WH Ireland entered talks for an all-share merger with fellow wealth manager Team, which eventually led to the sale being confirmed in March.
Mr Cusins is a qualified chartered accountant and has held several senior directorial positions in the investment management and financial services sector.
He was one of the founders of Lumin in 2010 along with Martin Cotter, helping to build it from approximately £12m to £1.4bn of assets under management, before overseeing the sale of its majority stake in the business to VZ Group in May 2021.
He has also held senior positions at UBS, Dresdner Bank and KPMG and has considerable experience in capital allocation and corporate transactions.
Team said Mr Cusin’s experience in building and scaling wealth management businesses will provide valuable support as it enters the next phase of its development.
Mark Clubb, executive chairman of Team, said: "John has a proven ability to identify opportunities, build high-quality financial services businesses and create long-term value for shareholders. That will be invaluable as Team enters its next phase of growth."
Losses climbed slightly in the period, rising from £1.76m in 2025 to £1.84m this year. The period included the WH Ireland acquisition as well as the acquisition of Financial Planning business EPIC Fund Services Guernsey for £800,000 in March.
Team has also exchanged contracts to acquire eight institutional quality investment mandates from EPIC Markets (UK), the £157m AUM UK based investment management business, for £1m.
