Steve Robertson, who works at Midland Financial Planning firm Newell Palmer, will be walking the length of the country and climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Mr Robertson’s epic journey begins on 18 May and he has so far raised just under a quarter of his ambitious £10,000 target.
On his JustGiving page, Mr Robertson explained why he has decided to don his walking and climbing boots.
He wrote: “Just over five years ago I lost my dad to cancer.
“A keen cyclist and runner to the end, he has always been my inspiration to do ‘daft’ things.
“Having previously run marathons and ultra-marathons I have now decided to take things a little easier and enter the world of long distance walking.
“Starting on 18 May and finishing on 21 July I aim to walk around 1,200 miles in total, covering around 20 miles per day.”
He added: “Cancer is a disease that will affect all of us in some way during our lives.
“With your generous donation I am hoping to be able to raise £10,000 for Macmillan, to give a little back to a charity that aims to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support.”
