Nearly 3 in 10 savers think checks aimed at preventing pension scams are ‘unnecessary’, while a similar proportion failed to spot scamming tactics when tested.

The Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association is reminding stakeholders that the deadline for responding to its Hitting The Target consultation is 12 January.

A survey has found that nearly half of younger retirees (44%) are withdrawing more than 10% of their pension savings each year, risking running out of money because they underestimate their lifespan.
